Summer

A Canadian flag flutters on a frosty flagpole. The outside red panel has been torn off by the wind and has left the center to blur into the white winter sky. I feel a lot like that flag, disappearing into winter. Winter freezes me to the bones even when the sun beams. It would feel so natural to curl up in bed and submit to hibernation. But that would be a winter thing to do. Instead I get up and get busy. That is the summer thing to do. Perhaps, this way, my life will blossom into a warmer season.
